Samrat Banerjee

Samrat Banerjee is a digital transformation and international development professional with over six years of experience at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). At GIZ, he currently serves as an ICT and Digitalisation Advisor for the Smart Cities and Proklima programs, leading large-scale digital transformation initiatives across multiple Indian states.

His work focuses on applying data science, AI, IoT, and open-source technologies to sustainable urban development, climate action, and green infrastructure. He has spearheaded end-to-end digital projects, including national- and city-level dashboards, and capacity-building programs for government and institutional partners.

An active iSPIRT DPI volunteer, Samrat contributes to India’s Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem, collaborating with public technologists on nation-building initiatives
