About us

In the field of developing Digital Public Infrastructures and Artificial Intelligence, India and France are cooperating intensively at all levels: diplomatic, academic, and political (AI Action Summit), of course, but also technical and industrial. While numerous collaborative projects are underway, the construction of ecosystems and bilateral partnerships—including the sharing of use cases and data, as well as feedback—remains essential.

iSPIRT intends to contribute to this construction at its level, and encourages the establishment of very open bilateral working groups and workshops.

Imagining the Indian City

  • There is a clear need for a continuous conversation about the best way to shape the future of Indian cities
  • This is a conversation that should be had across multiple cities, with learnings from each other
  • Therefore, it is proposed to hold an “Imagine” conference annually in different Indian places
  • The first of those will be held in Bangalore, with the next two planned for Chennai and Pune
  • These conferences will gather academics, practitioners and urban innovators in multi-day get-togethers
  • Half of each conference will focus on the host city, and the other half will be for learnings from elsewhere

AI Sectors

Health

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the healthcare sector presents both significant opportunities and challenges. Currently, AI is being leveraged to enhance diagnostics, personalize treatments, and optimize healthcare systems. For instance, algorithms can analyze vast amounts of medical data to identify patterns that may be overlooked by human practitioners, leading to earlier and more accurate diagnoses.
However, the rapid adoption of AI also raises crucial ethical and regulatory concerns. Issues such as data privacy, algorithm transparency, and the potential for bias in AI systems must be addressed to ensure that these technologies are used safely and effectively. Furthermore, there is a pressing need for a robust regulatory framework that can keep pace with technological advancements while fostering innovation. As the healthcare landscape evolves, stakeholders are working collaboratively to develop guidelines that prioritize patient safety and ethical standards in the deployment of AI tools.

Cultural Industries

The intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and the cultural sector presents both significant opportunities and challenges. AI has the potential to enhance creativity, making cultural products more accessible and diverse, while also transforming traditional artistic processes. For instance, AI can generate new forms of art and music, thereby expanding the creative landscape and opening new markets for cultural industries. However, these advancements raise pressing ethical questions, particularly regarding intellectual property rights and the authenticity of AI-generated works. As AI disrupts established models within the cultural sector, it is crucial to establish a regulatory framework that protects creators while fostering innovation. The ongoing dialogue around these issues is essential for ensuring that the benefits of AI are realized without compromising cultural diversity and integrity.

Creative Cities

How can the circulation of data, knowledge, and ideas be facilitated in a given territory? Recent literature on the notion of the creative city provides a rich conceptual framework for understanding the importance of the “middleground” as an intermediary platform for the exchange of ideas, data and knowledge, connecting the formal entities of the “upperground” (companies, research departments, administrative units, etc.) with the informal collectives of the “underground” (informal communities, creative talents, techno-geeks, etc.). But what are the main mechanisms that need to be put in place to benefit from an active middleground? The literature suggests a combined role of events, places, spaces (cognitive platform) and projects, but how should they interact to obtain a rich innovative ecosystem combining sustainability and inclusivity? What is the specific role of AI tools to improve the middleground? How could public authorities intervene to improve the efficiency of the local ecosystem? What could be the specific role of multinational companies?

Agriculture

The agricultural sector is undergoing a transformative shift with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), presenting both challenges and opportunities. AI technologies enhance precision farming by analyzing vast amounts of data, optimizing crop yields, and improving resource management. However, the adoption of AI also raises concerns regarding data privacy, the digital divide between large and small farms, and the potential displacement of labor. As farmers increasingly rely on AI-driven tools for decision-making, it is crucial to address these challenges while harnessing the potential of AI to create a more sustainable and efficient agricultural landscape. Balancing innovation with ethical considerations will be key to ensuring that the benefits of AI in agriculture are accessible to all stakeholders
